2016 Welcoming Party for New Members

The HKAUW 2016 Welcoming Party for New Members was held at Shanghai Fraternity Association Clubhouse on Saturday, 22 October.  7 EXCO members and 26 new members joined the party including 4 undergraduates and 22 postgraduates. Julia Woo, Acting President introduced briefly HKAUW to the new members. Followed by sharing by two 2015 HKAUW scholarship recipients their community projects. Sara Li from HKU talked about Social Triangles, the 3 different forms of local community services; Yanny Wong from CUHK elaborated on The Asian Medical Students' Association Hong Kong (AMSAHK)’s activities.  EXCO members led discussions among new members at different tables while sharing over a Shanghainese tea session. The discussions centered on members’ expectations for HKAUW and their possible contributions in the future. Everyone enjoyed the party. The new members made friends with each other, had a better understanding of HKAUW and shared their community project ideas. The party ended successfully at 5:00 pm with closing remarks delivered by Julia Woo who encouraged members to learn to grow through active participation in organized events.
