Aim

The post-graduate scholarships aim at recognising and encouraging postgraduates with high quality original research projects of significant value to society and knowledge. The successful candidates should also be able to demonstrate leadership in team work, achievements in their chosen disciplines through research and practice, and current community service.

 
Award

Each HKAUW 2008 scholarship recipient will receive a Certificate of Award and HK$20,000.

 

Eligibility Criteria - An Applicant

Must be a full member of the HKAUW (Submit Online Membership Application form here)
 

Must be currently registered as a full-time female student in a recognized tertiary institution granting post-graduate degrees in Hong Kong

 

Is nominated by the head of department or faculty/school in which she is currently registered

 

Have outstanding academic achievements, personal aspirations and qualities

Demonstrates leadership and involvement in the community service, have contributions in their chosen disciplines including global outlook and promotion of womanhood
 
Is required to serve the community for at least half a year after she receives the scholarship which may include serving as a member of HKAUW Executive Committee
 
   

Application Procedure

The applicant must be nominated by the heads of department or faculty/school in which she is currently registered.

 

Completed copy of the HKAUW Scholarship Application Form including only relevant information, a letter of reference from one referee, together with required documents must be received by the HKAUW by 5 p.m. on 20th October 2008. Late applications will NOT be considered.

 

This application must be accompanied by all supporting documents. Applications will not be considered without supporting documents.

 
 
Announcement of Results

Short-listed candidates are required to attend an interview on 4th November 2008. Applicants who will not be available in Hong Kong for the interview are advised not to apply.

 

The Scholarship Convenor will notify the institutions about the names of the short-listed candidates and scholarship recipients.

 

Applicants who are not notified of the outcome by mid-December 2008 should consider that their applications unsuccessful. HKAUW does NOT provide critiques for unsuccessful applications.

 
 
Presentation of Awards

Certificates and cheques will be presented to the scholarship recipients at an Awards Presentation Ceremony.

 

The scholarship recipients are required to make a short presentation of their research topic at the Presentation Ceremony and attend the HKAUW¡¦s Christmas Dinner scheduled in mid-December 2008. Absence will mean forfeiture of the award.
