LOOKING AHEAD AT THE MID-POINT OF A HUNDRED YEAR FOR HKAUW HKAUW, one of the first charitable women’s associations established in Hong Kong, has established a solid foundation in the promotion of higher education among young women in Hong Kong in the last fifty years. As globalization and constant change mark the opening years of the 21st century, it is time for us to help our educated women stretch their minds with new knowledge and innovative ideas and strengthen their hearts and foster their concern for others, especially for women and girl child in situations far less fortunate than our own.
With the continuous support of a talented and selfless Executive Committee, especially from involvement of young members and active participation from our members and friends, in addition to the continuous promotion of higher education for women, the HKAUW is ready to take up new challenges in contributing to a better world through sustainable community services.
Working Plan for 2008 and beyond:
- Strengthen linkage with IFUW & NFAs
- New web-page for promotion of Association’s image and as communication channel with members & IFUW etc.
- Membership: update, renewal and work on recruitment of new members
- Core Group to stimulate social service participation from young members, especially from amongst scholarship recipients
- Fund-raising for Scholarship 2008
- Annual Scholarship Exercise
- Seminars/Workshops for learning/sharing
- Annual Christmas Dinner cum Scholarship Presentation
