HKAUW Golden Anniversary Celebrations 2007

The Hong Kong Association of University Women came into being in 1957 as a result of conversations among women graduates of universities who wanted to have an arena where they could meet, share companionship and activities of mutual interest. The arrival of Beryl Wright and at the University of Hong Kong brought international connection, so, almost from the outset, the HKAUW has been a part of the International Federation of University Women.

In time, the HKAUW started to provide scholarships and fellowships for women to pursue post-graduate studies abroad and, eventually in Hong Kong as institutions of higher learning and research developed locally. Today, in addition to seminars, granting scholarships to women for undergraduate and postgraduate studies is a significant activity.

In 2007, HKAUW is preparing to celebrate the golden anniversary of its founding with a series of activities. Seminars throughout the year, a fund-raising concert, and a gala dinner are being planned!

All of the members of HKAUW as well as the IFUW are cordially invited to participate. Dates and places for the activities will be posted on the website in the autumn as soon as they are set.

HKAUW is affiliated to the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) ( www.ifuw.org ) with links in 78 countries.
